Exit Device Lever when locked the lever or knob is disengaged from the mechanism and still rotates therefore preventing unauthorised entry and damage to the unit.

Exit Device Lever Function - Pushing the bar down into the door face retracts the bolts. The bolts remain retracted
until automatically released on closing of the door.
